Early, First Real Surprise

I will post my daily wrap up after bible study tonight, but I just wanted to shoot this out there quickly. I had two surprised already this morning. The first was a spiritual surprise.....this has never happened to me before, I actually woke up praying! I didn't have my alarm set, so I just kind of woke up on my own and when I opened my eyes, I realized I was praying for people I knew, mostly people from my bible study and my friend Emily and her family who are traveling, and also the woman I'm living with right now. That was very cool! I just closed my eyes and kept praying. God, please let me wake up praying OFTEN, if not every day! I loved my present, thank you!

Second was a food surprise. This will gross some of you out, I'm sure. I have been making some of Daniel fast recipes in my Ultimate Guide Book, but I haven't gotten too much into baking and cooking other than soup and rice because I'm trying to keep it simple and eat like Daniel probably ate. The idea is to deny yourself and make it hard, if you are feasting while fasting, there seems to be an element of the fast that is lost, just my opinion. You may disagree.

Anyway, back to my story. My stomach and intestines have been kind of irritable because I'm eating alot of whole grains, and also alot of beans for protein. So this morning, I decided to try a smoothie made with almond milk and tofu - I've been putting it off because although I'm one of the rare people who actually likes tofu, the thought of it in a shake was not appealing. But I didn't want to do oatmeal or whole grains because I want to give my stomach a break. So I made the smoothie with tofu, almond milk, unsweet apple juice, berries, a banana, some unsweet coconut......it was delicious! No, I'm not kidding, the tofu made it really creamy and smooth, and it absorbed the flavor of the berries and banana. I can't believe I'm about to say this, it actually rivaled my post-workout smoothies that I usually make in flavor.

I did make a batch of date honey as a sweetner, and it's already gone. I do have a sweet tooth, so I've been using it in things and I need to get some more dates and make another batch.

I'll sign back on later and blog about my day, but note to self - wake up praying and tofu smoothies are great!
