I Don't Know!

I don't know. It's a blanket answer for any kind of uncertainty in our lives. This is the only answer I can think of that applies to any question we have- Who? What? Where? When? Why? How? I don't know. Not even "yes," "no" or "maybe" answers these questions!

Yesterday, I was talking with a friend about my move. He asked me, "What is your plan for the future?" I don't know. "Are you planning to get your own place eventually?" I don't know. "Are you still hoping to marry again one day?" "What will you do with your stuff?" "How will you feel about having a roommate?" I don't know!

Right now, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty in the lives of those around me. Here are just a few of our collective questions, perhaps you can relate to one or more:

  • Will I always struggle financially?
  • Will the man I'm interested in ever want a relationship with me?
  • Should I wait?
  • When will my sick child recover, or will he recover at all?
  • How will my job situation work out?
  • Where should I live?
  • What is God teaching me?
  • Why doesn't God give me clear answers, when I want them?
  • When will my prayers be answered?
  • Why is this taking so long?

I don't know.

There is power in uncertainty. There is power in uncertainty because it requires us to trust.

The definition of "trust"- firm believe in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.

We ALL want to have control of our lives. One of the first life skills we learn in the "terrible twos" is our power to say "NO!" and take control of our own lives. It is MUCH HARDER to let go of control and, instead, and allow God to move in our lives. As we grow in our faith, this is a life skill we can train ourselves to release to God.

Though we don't know the future, we do trust God when he tells us that He loves us, He'll care for us, and we can trust Him with out lives. When God makes a promise, we can believe it! This is something I've been learning anew with this move, and with other situations in my life. My power is in allowing God to take control of these situations, rather than powering through on my own strength.

I recently received a prophetic word that said, "You are fighting to trust God!" And it's true, I have been struggling to let go of control of a situation in my life, and allow God to work it all out in His timing. It's been a huge opportunity for me to break bad habits and do things differently, so that God can be glorified! Is it easy? Not at all. And yet I have peace and joy in the journey.

One of my favorite songs is an old one entitled Along the Road. I love this song because it talks about how, during a difficult season, there may be fear and questions, but in the end God always gives us JOY!

The best feeling in the world is the joy of a situation that works out entirely because of God's grace! A relationship working out that is 100% God, and not because things we orchestrate ourselves. An unexpected resource for all kinds of things that God puts in your path. The joy when a situation works out in a way that exceeds expectations. When these things happen, it reminds me just how much God does care for me, and how much I can trust HIM with my life!

What is your current "I don't know" situation? Trust God in your uncertainty, with no pre-conceived notions about how it might work out. Allow your Father to surprise and delight you and give you joy in the journey along the road.

While you're fighting to Trust God, remember to Praise Crazy!!!!
