Uncertainty

One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 30:21 - Whether  you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying "This is the way; walk in it." It's clear, confident, and gives decided instruction. Go here.

When God speaks clearly, and you know exactly what to do, it's great, isn't it. Crystal clear directions work for me. It's like following a map. And yet, let's face it, these occasions are rare. More often than not, we  have to depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us as we gently navigate a number of options, praying for direction and searching the scriptures for answers.

God has been teaching me a lot lately about abiding, even when circumstances are uncertain. I've had various degrees of uncertainty in my living situation, job (and as a result, finances), relationships that are incredibly important to me, and even in my book that I'm finishing up. And yet, I'm abiding in God's perfect peace within the storm swirling around me.

Though the details of my life are sometimes unclear, God's overarching purpose for my life is crystal clear - to make Him known in the world, and be a conduit for His love. Once you grasp that, the details really just don't become as important. Because then, we are moving in God's direction boldly and confidently. Notice I didn't say "quickly."

As I have learned, one of the keys to navigating uncertainty is abiding in God and trusting in His perfect timing. I had a situation in my own life that I was sharing with a dear friend, something I wanted to happen but it was too slow for me, and she was saying to me - I think the intention is right, but the timing might be off. I was unsettled with the unknown direction of things. She said to me, it seems these two other things need to happen first. So I prayerfully considered it, and then, with 2 days, things fell into place for the situation to play out exactly as she suggested. I didn't get the answer I wanted right now, today, but ultimately, I see how doing it God's way will be so much better.

In every situation, there are three possible answers from God - "Yes!" "Not now (wait)," or "I have something better." I like it when His answer combines all three possibilities - "Yes, this will happen in my timing, so wait. And it will be so much better because you trusted me!" That's what I'm believing for the situation in my own life!

Gotta love uncertainty, it gives God an opportunity to show us His way, and direct us to walk in it. Waiting is an act of worship. He tells us that all things work together for the good for those who love the Lord.....so why do we have so much trouble believing it?

Just remember while you're embracing uncertainty to Praise Crazy!
